BIPARJOY CYCLONE-WHICH STATES MAY GET AFFECTED ?

Cyclone 'Biparjoy': Impending Threat to Coastal Regions as Strength Grows

Cyclone "Biparjoy" has intensified over the expansive southeast Arabian Sea and adjacent east-central Arabian Sea, prompting significant concern among meteorological experts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a stark warning, indicating that the cyclone is poised to develop into a formidable storm, posing an imminent threat to coastal regions.

Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra are particularly at risk as Cyclone Biparjoy advances on a northward trajectory. With the potential to unleash powerful winds, gusts could reach speeds of up to 160 kmph, while sustained winds are projected to range between 135 and 145 kmph. In light of these challenging weather conditions, authorities have urged caution, advising fishermen to exercise restraint and refrain from venturing into the treacherous sea.

Designated "Biparjoy" by Bangladesh, this cyclone poses a significant hazard to India's west coast, home to crucial ports and refineries. As a result, the arrival of Cyclone Biparjoy has caused delays in the onset of monsoon rains, heightening concerns across the region. Experts anticipate further intensification of the cyclone in the Arabian Sea, amplifying risks for the affected areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed the cyclone's progression into a severe storm, with its northward trajectory expected to continue over the next 24 hours. Cyclone Biparjoy's development is likely to disrupt monsoon patterns in Kerala, leading to cloud displacement and reduced moisture levels, potentially impacting regional rainfall.

Having formed as the first cyclone in the Arabian Sea this year, Cyclone Biparjoy has swiftly transformed into a potent cyclonic system. While its impact on the southern peninsula is predicted to be relatively subdued, the onset of the monsoon in Kerala may experience a milder progression due to the cyclone's influence, according to meteorological projections.

To ensure the safety of fishermen and coastal residents, the IMD has issued specific guidelines. Fishermen are strongly advised to avoid entering the central and adjacent areas of the south Arabian Sea from June 7 to June 9. Furthermore, caution is urged for fishermen in the Lakshadweep and Maldives regions, as well as those residing near the beaches of Kerala and Karnataka on June 6 and 7. Similarly, the IMD recommends the avoidance of the Konkan, Goa, and Maharashtra coasts from June 8 to June 10.

It is imperative for all concerned individuals and authorities to remain vigilant and closely monitor the progress of Cyclone Biparjoy, recognizing its potential threat to coastal regions. Timely preparedness measures and effective dissemination of information can significantly contribute to mitigating the cyclone's impact and ensuring the safety of the populace.
